Tech Mahindra brings Perplexity AI into sales teams

Tech Mahindra has partnered with Perplexity to introduce AI tools across its sales organisation, centred on the use of Perplexity Enterprise Pro by sales and customer-facing teams.
The software will give customer partners and senior sales leaders access to real-time business, industry and technology information as they prepare for client discussions and assess potential opportunities.
The move brings a well-known AI search and answer product into one of India's largest technology services groups. Tech Mahindra says it has more than 147,000 employees, operates in more than 90 countries and serves more than 1,100 clients. Part of the Mahindra Group, it describes itself as a USD $6.5 billion technology consultancy.
Under the rollout, teams will use the platform to research customer priorities, review sector-specific issues, identify emerging opportunities and assess where technology investments may fit customer transformation plans. The system is intended to reduce time spent gathering information and improve the quality of sales conversations.
Sales workflow
Sales teams at large consulting and IT services companies are under pressure to enter meetings with a clear view of a client's market position, current priorities and likely spending plans. Tools that combine AI-generated answers with cited sources are increasingly being marketed as a way to help staff do that preparation more quickly, while giving managers greater confidence in the material being used.
For Tech Mahindra, the partnership also signals a broader effort to weave AI into internal operations rather than limit it to client-facing projects. The deployment reflects its focus on using AI to improve sales effectiveness and deepen customer engagement.
Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Mohit Joshi outlined the rationale for the move in a statement on the partnership.

The deployment comes as service providers and software suppliers look to demonstrate practical uses for generative AI in day-to-day business tasks. In sales, that often includes account research, meeting preparation, proposal support and surfacing recent information on customers and their industries.
Founded in 2022, Perplexity has sought to distinguish itself in that market through answer-based search tools that provide citations to source material. It says it answers more than 1.5 billion questions each month globally.
Client context
For consulting and outsourcing groups, one attraction of such systems is the ability to standardise how teams gather background information before approaching clients. That matters in organisations with large international sales operations, where consistency of research and speed of response can affect how quickly teams move from first contact to a formal proposal.
The software will support customer-facing staff throughout the sales lifecycle. Better access to information should also help teams make faster decisions and create more tailored customer interactions.
The arrangement also gives Perplexity another enterprise reference customer at a time when AI software groups are competing to show their products can move beyond consumer use into large corporate workflows. Demand for those tools has grown as companies test whether AI can save time in knowledge-heavy roles without increasing the risk of inaccurate information.
Perplexity Chief Executive Officer Aravind Srinivas highlighted Tech Mahindra's scale and the focus on source-backed answers.
