Salesforce adds Slackbot features to boost CRM work

Thu, 2nd Apr 2026

Salesforce has added more than 30 new features to Slackbot, expanding its role across Slack and Salesforce.

The update adds meeting transcription, note-taking, reusable AI task templates, voice input, memory features, and tighter links to Salesforce data and third-party applications. Slackbot can also act as an MCP client, routing requests to Agentforce or other connected tools across an organisation.

Salesforce is positioning Slackbot as a conversational layer across workplace messaging, business records, and software systems. It argues that employees often struggle to use AI tools spread across different applications because they need to know which system handles which task.

With the update, Slackbot can listen during meetings in the Slack desktop app, create summaries, identify action items, and post structured notes in Slack after a call ends. It can also update CRM records after meetings, including logging actions, updating opportunities, and capturing next steps.

Another part of the release focuses on what Salesforce calls AI skills: reusable instruction sets for recurring tasks. These can define inputs, steps, and output formats for work such as campaign briefs, pipeline summaries, and incident reports, then be reused or shared across teams.

Slackbot can also move with users across desktop applications. Users can select content on screen and ask Slackbot to summarise material, draft follow-up notes, flag risks, or provide updates based on a document, while applying existing Slack permissions and governance rules.

Adoption

Less than two months after launch, Slackbot is on track to become the fastest-adopted feature in Salesforce's history, according to the company. It named Anthropic, Wayfair, Asymbl, Engine, and reMarkable as users, and said some employees at customer organisations reported saving up to 90 minutes a day.

Inside Salesforce, teams are saving up to 20 hours a week, generating more than USD $6.4 million in productivity value, according to the company. Those figures were not independently verified.

"Slack is the operating system for work, bringing humans, agents, data, and apps together in one trusted conversational interface. With Slackbot, every employee now has a super-intelligent teammate whose status is always green-coordinating across teams and systems, accelerating execution across the enterprise, and saving hours every day. Slackbot is the front door for the Agentic Enterprise," said Parker Harris, Co-Founder & CTO, Salesforce.

CRM push

A significant part of the update is aimed at customer management. For smaller businesses, Slackbot now includes native CRM functions within Slack, allowing it to read conversations in channels and keep deals, contacts, and call notes up to date automatically.

For larger Salesforce customers, Slackbot is being presented as a conversational interface for Customer 360. Users can update opportunities, research accounts, route cases, and trigger workflows through Slack conversations instead of opening separate Salesforce applications.

Tableau MCP integrations will also bring quota information and related next steps into the same interface, while voice-to-CRM logging will let sales staff update records from mobile conversations.

Access to apps

Slackbot's MCP client support means it can connect to any tool available through the Slack Marketplace and Salesforce AppExchange. Salesforce cited tasks such as qualifying leads, resolving cases, pulling forecasts, reviewing contracts, and starting IT service workflows as examples of work that can be initiated through a single conversation.

Salesforce's broader argument is that many AI functions already exist across enterprise software, but employees often fail to use them because access is fragmented. By making Slackbot the point of entry, the company is aiming to make Slack more central to everyday work and more tightly linked to the rest of the Salesforce product set.

New Salesforce customers will receive Slack provisioned and connected as part of their setup. Slackbot is currently available on Business+ and Enterprise+ plans, with access set to expand to Free and Pro users through a limited number of included conversations.

The company included one customer example to support the launch.

"Before, I was spending hours every week juggling spreadsheets and trying to remember what I promised each customer. Now I just tell Slackbot what happened after a call, and it updates everything automatically. I'm saving at least 90 minutes a day on admin work-time I can actually spend with customers," said Sia Ghazvinian, Co-founder & CEO, abivo.ai.
