Capgemini & SAP partner for youth digital skills training in India
Capgemini has announced a strategic collaboration with SAP to launch the Capgemini-SAP Digital Academy programme. This initiative is designed to offer employment-linked skill training to marginalised youth across six Indian cities: Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.
The programme focuses on narrowing the digital divide and promoting gender inclusivity by prioritising the enrolment of young women, ensuring over 50% of participants come from this demographic.
The initiative aligns with the corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals of both Capgemini and SAP, aiming to create pathways for sustainable careers while fostering inclusive socio-economic growth.
Ashwin Yardi, CEO of Capgemini in India, commented, "We are delighted to collaborate with SAP and make a significant contribution towards the advancement of India's digital economy through the upskilling of its youth. This collaboration reflects Capgemini's commitment to empowering vulnerable youth communities and promoting equal opportunities, fostering inclusion and socio-economic development in India."
"Through the Capgemini-SAP Digital Academy programme, we are not only providing skills but also creating pathways for sustainable careers and livelihood while at the same time nurturing the skilled talent India needs to grow," Yardi said.
Sindhu Gangadharan, Managing Director of SAP Labs India and Head of Customer Innovation Services, SAP, added, "At SAP, we have an unwavering commitment to providing equitable access to education and employment opportunities on digital and green skills for youth in today's rapidly changing world. By joining forces with Capgemini on this initiative, we are delivering on our commitment to harnessing technology for positive societal impact."
Gangadharan continued, "Our partnership will empower India's youth with future-ready and well-defined skillsets, ensuring their long-term success in their careers. This collaboration represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to foster a culture of continuous learning, which will undoubtedly contribute to India's growth trajectory."
India, home to the world's largest youth population, has a significant opportunity to enhance digital skills amongst its young citizens. The collaboration between Capgemini and SAP aims to provide underprivileged youth with training in courses aligned with current market demands. The partnership also aspires to influence policy advocacy to revolutionise the skilling ecosystem in India.
Over the next three years, Capgemini and SAP will jointly invest, pool resources, expertise, and utilise their networks to support this initiative. The programme intends to bridge the digital skills gap for over 8,000 individuals from marginalised youth communities in India.
