Bazaarvoice has become a Shopify Certified Technology Partner, expanding its reach within Shopify's merchant ecosystem.

The agreement focuses on ratings and reviews tools for Shopify merchants. Sellers can manage localised review content by region within the Shopify app, while also gaining access to Bazaarvoice's content network, which includes more than 16 billion pieces of content across more than 11,000 brands.

Shopify's built-in ratings and reviews tools have typically served straightforward online storefronts, but larger merchants often need more control over catalogues, regional content and moderation. Bazaarvoice is targeting brands with multi-region operations and more complex product ranges.

The updated Shopify app includes controls for catalogue management, design settings and automation. Merchants can also synchronise product catalogues, order data and customer feedback through Shopify's admin system without extensive development work.

Review management

Key features include automated post-purchase review request emails using Shopify order and fulfilment data. Merchants can also add ratings, reviews and question-and-answer widgets to product pages through the integration.

The partnership also extends review distribution beyond a merchant's own website. Reviews collected on a Shopify store can be syndicated across Bazaarvoice's wider retail network, which spans more than 1,750 global retailers.

The offering also includes fraud detection and moderation. Bazaarvoice said the integration is designed to help merchants address AI-generated fraud risks and compliance issues, and that its moderation technology is built on the ISO-20488 standard.

Bazaarvoice also used the announcement to highlight the role of user-generated content in online shopping, saying customers who interact with such content are twice as likely to convert. That helps explain why many merchants treat reviews and related material as a core part of digital commerce.

Broader platform

Beyond ratings and reviews, Bazaarvoice's Shopify app can connect merchants with other services on its platform, including social commerce, influencer marketing and product sampling. The company said this can reduce the need for multiple software providers to manage customer content and marketing activity.

Founded in 2005, Bazaarvoice works with more than 13,000 brands and retailers globally. The Austin, Texas-based business has operations across North America, Europe, India and Australia.

Doug Straton, chief marketing officer at Bazaarvoice, said the integration is intended to give brands more control over design and identity.

"Generic templates shouldn't define a brand's digital identity," Straton said.

"By integrating with Shopify, we are handing the creative reins back to the merchant. This integration is built on the belief that every storefront should be as unique as the products it sells, providing the deep customization tools necessary to turn a standard shop into a bespoke brand experience."
