Lambdatest unveils KaneAI, the first end-to-end AI test agent

Thu, 22nd Aug 2024

Lambdatest has launched KaneAI, marking the introduction of the first end-to-end AI test agent in the software testing industry. KaneAI is a GenAI-powered test studio aimed at transforming the accessibility of testing beyond traditional engineering and development teams. It allows personnel to run tests using natural language prompts, thus simplifying the creation, management, and execution of tests.

The new tool is designed to address some persistent challenges in automation testing. These include the lag behind development sprints and the brittle nature of tests which require continuous maintenance. Although low-code and no-code solutions exist, their learning curve and scalability issues limit their efficacy.

Asad Khan, Co-Founder and CEO at LambdaTest, spoke on the innovative approach behind the development of KaneAI. "Over the past six years, we have listened to feedback from the users on how to solve their testing challenges. KaneAI is the result of our team's innovative approach to address that. The engineering and product team has spent over a year building this revolutionary product and pushed the boundaries of what is possible in quality engineering. They ensured that every aspect of KaneAI could meet the real-world challenges that testing teams face daily. This journey was about developing an AI-powered test agent and reimagining what test automation could be,” Khan said.

With industry-first features such as AI-powered test authoring, management, and debugging capabilities, KaneAI is set to reduce the expertise and time required to start with test automation. Its utilisation of natural language allows various personnel to participate in the test-case creation process, making it more inclusive.

KaneAI also offers intelligent test planning, AI-powered test healing, and advanced conditional assertions to support complex workflows and ensure comprehensive test coverage. A standout feature is its two-way test editing capabilities, allowing users to author tests in either code or natural language. Furthermore, it supports multi-language code export across all major frameworks along with Instruction-to-Code and Code-to-Instruction translation features, facilitating easier maintenance of tests at scale.

The debugging process is also enhanced through AI-powered test observability and real-time Root Cause Analysis (RCA), aiming to help distributed engineering teams minimize application downtime and accelerate release cycles, all without compromising product quality.

KaneAI seamlessly integrates with existing workflows, supporting tools like Jira, Slack, GitHub Actions, and Microsoft Teams, making it an adaptive addition to any testing suite. Sandeep Johri, CEO of Checkmarx, remarked on its impact: “KaneAI exemplifies LambdaTest's unwavering commitment to revolutionizing quality engineering. Having led technology firms for two decades, I have seen software development teams struggling to keep up with the fast pace of change and remain agile as they deliver top-tier products. KaneAI is a game-changer and addresses large-scale challenges for quality engineering teams. Through this product, LambdaTest disrupts the legacy testing ecosystem. NLP based test authoring fundamentally breaks through the traditional testing workflows and empowers product managers, developers and testers to seamlessly integrate continuous testing into the DevOps workflows.”

The launch of KaneAI positions LambdaTest as a comprehensive solution for all aspects of end-to-end software quality engineering, from test planning and authoring to execution, analysis, and reporting. The platform’s core capabilities of providing cloud environments for test execution on real devices and browsers are complemented by AI-powered test intelligence, ensuring a robust approach to quality assurance.

KaneAI will be available in private beta beginning August 21, 2024. Quality engineering teams interested in early access can sign up to participate.
