IndiGo partners with Amadeus to enhance booking technology
Amadeus, a global travel technology provider, and IndiGo, India's largest airline, have announced a partnership to bring New Distribution Capability (NDC) content to travel sellers via the Amadeus Travel Platform.
The agreement between IndiGo and Amadeus aims to provide travel sellers with access to a broader range of the airline's products and services. This collaboration is expected to simplify the booking process and enhance efficiency for travel agencies and corporate clients.
IndiGo's CEO, Pieter Elbers, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. "IndiGo celebrated its 18th anniversary this year and introduced exciting new products, including IndiGoStretch and IndiGo BluChip. This agreement with Amadeus will enable us to take our Distribution Strategy to the next level and provide travellers, with our exciting new products, on an even greater scale, in India and around the world," Elbers said. He also noted that the collaboration aligns with the airline's strategy "Towards New Heights and across New Frontiers" to address the evolving needs of travelers.
Decius Valmorbida, President of Travel at Amadeus, highlighted the technological advantages of the partnership. "We look forward to working with IndiGo to simplify its distribution strategy and take advantage of new technology standards. Amadeus is the world's largest travel distribution platform and the largest provider of IT solutions to airlines which puts us in a unique position to drive NDC forward," he said. According to Valmorbida, Amadeus' technology will enable IndiGo to tailor its offers using the latest merchandising capabilities, enhancing the shopping experience for passengers and travel sellers worldwide.
One of the key benefits of the partnership is the ability for IndiGo to create dynamically priced offers and promotions tailored to individual travellers. This will allow travel sellers to offer more personalised and competitive travel packages. Amadeus' NDC technology supports this by providing a standardised messaging system, which facilitates more efficient content distribution.
IndiGo's commitment to embracing NDC technology is part of its wider strategy to innovate and focus on customer satisfaction. Through the partnership, the airline aims to provide greater access to its products and services, empowering customers to make informed choices and enjoy a seamless travel experience from booking to boarding.
IndiGo has already implemented NDC booking and servicing capabilities in the UAE and Singapore, with plans to extend these capabilities to other markets. The integration is powered by Navitaire, enhancing the airline's ability to build dynamically priced, tailored offers that can be exposed to customers through various sales channels efficiently.
IndiGo operates a fleet of over 350 aircraft and conducts more than 2,000 daily flights, reaching over 120 destinations, including 34 international locations. The airline is poised to carry more than 110 million passengers in 2024, with its growth ambitions supported by one of the largest aircraft order books in the industry.
Amadeus' extensive global market coverage and deep integration into the ecosystem of travel sellers will reportedly enable IndiGo to leverage IATA's NDC and ONE Order visions while ensuring an 'exceptional' travel experience for its customers.
